Press Release
Colorado State University Global will introduce its Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity program with the Fall-A term, which begins July 13, 2020.
This undergraduate degree program expands upon the university’s cybersecurity programs, essential to meeting the demand of both students and a rapidly expanding job market. It is also aligned with the NSA’s National Centers of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense (CAE-CD) program requirements. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of information security analysts (a common position held by experts in the field) is projected to grow 32 percent from 2018 to 2028 – much faster than the average rate for all occupations of just 5 percent.
The B.S. in Cybersecurity is an opportunity to learn how to protect and secure organizations’ valuable data and resolve technical vulnerabilities from experienced and respected industry professionals.
According to Forbes.com, the average cost incurred by a U.S. company that suffers a data breach stands at $8.19 million, but that drops to $2.6 million for organizations that have implemented fully automated cybersecurity defenses. Implementing these tactics will require a highly skilled cybersecurity workforce.
Information security experts are often responsible for mitigating cyber threats, information assurance, and digital crime investigation, as well as identifying systems and networks susceptible to malicious software and hackers. Students will also graduate from the program prepared for a variety of professional security-certification exams, including the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) exam.
