Colorado State University Global
CSU Global uses two course tracks — Gold and Burgundy — to give students more flexibility in how they move through the academic year.
Our academic calendar is made up of three 16-week trimesters: fall, winter and spring. Each trimester includes two 8-week terms. The Gold and Burgundy tracks help determine which 8-week terms you take classes in.
What’s the difference between Gold and Burgundy?
The difference is when your classes start.
Burgundy Track: You start classes in A or C terms.
Gold Track: You start classes in B or D terms.
Why does this matter?
Your track helps create a predictable schedule. It also gives you built-in breaks between some courses, so you can take time off without needing to sit out for an entire trimester.
