Whether you’re just starting your career in management, or you've already been leading a team for years, this specialization will give you the practical tools you need to take your management style to a higher level.

An effective manager needs to understand many different aspects of business, and bring that knowledge together with practical skills to lead the organization or a team and produce results. This program will give you a broad understanding of the many factors that effect your organization, and help you bring it all together with real-world tools you can use on the job.

Gain a competitive advantage with a specialization or certificate in applied business management. You’ll learn accounting, finance, change management, and strategic planning skills, along with the latest theories and techniques for bringing these skills together into an effective management style. 

This program consists of four graduate online applied business management courses for a total of 12 credit hours.

  • ACT500: Managerial Accounting

    Understand and apply accounting information for effective financial decision making in the strategic planning process.

  • FIN500: Principles of Finance

    Understand the principles and theories of finance to analyze statements and fiscal information for effective decision-making in today’s competitive environment.

  • MGT510: Strategy Planning

    This course examines and applies the concepts and theories of strategic planning in present-day organizations. Topics include strategy development and implementation based on internal and external analysis of the organization. The course includes the perspective of both the domestic and global economy. Special attention is given to innovation, technology, and entrepreneurial perspectives.

  • MGT571: Strategic Product Innovation

    This practical and applied course introduces students to fundamental and advanced aspects of product development. The course addresses the challenges of idea development and evaluation for commercial feasibility, building a business case, and design/development of products and services, as well as the requirements and demands of commercialization.

International Management will take ACT505 in place of ACT500.
