Military Tuition Assistance Students

CSU Global stands ready to support you!

Communication received from branches indicates that the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA) has provided funding for Tuition Assistance (TA) for all Service members for courses starting through December 31, 2025, despite the current government shutdown. Based on this new guidance, you may disregard previous communication regarding the unavailability of funds for future terms during the shutdown.

Active-duty Soldiers and activated Reservists who meet eligibility requirements to use active-duty TA are eligible. Non-activated Reservists will not be able to receive TA approval during the shutdown. Additionally, retroactive requests are not expected to be approved.

If you are planning to take courses in the WinterA or WinterB terms, we encourage you to submit TA requests as soon as possible, as funding may be limited and standard TA guidelines are still in place. Requests must be submitted by your branch’s normal deadline and must be approved prior to the start of class to be eligible for funding. If you submit a TA request that is not approved prior to the start date, you will need to have an alternate means of funding in place to stay registered in the term and should expect to be financially responsible for the course(s).

If you are not active-duty or an activated reservist, you will need to have an alternate means of funding in place to stay registered if the shutdown is in effect.

If you would like to explore an alternative fund source, some options that may be available to you include:

  • GI Bill – VA funding is not impacted by the shutdown. If eligible, please email your Certificate of Eligibility to military.benefits@csuglobal.edu. If you need assistance applying
    for benefits, please contact us.
  • Financial Aid (Including Pell Grant if eligible) – Start this process by completing a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at studentaid.gov. CSU Global’s school code is 042087.
  • Payment Plan – Requires a 50% cash payment by the Add/Drop date, with the remaining 50% due 30 days after the term ends. You do not need to sign up for this, just ensure that you make a 50% payment prior to the drop date.

All of us at CSU Global are here to support you in your academic and professional goals. We encourage you to reach out to your Student Success Counselor or Student Financial Services to discuss your options and so they may answer any questions you may have as we work to navigate the shutdown together.

CSU Global will continue to monitor government decision-making and provide information as we have it available. If you have any questions please contact military.benefits@csuglobal.edu or 855-212-6700.

Sincerely,

Jessica Roeger
Associate Director of Student Accounts & Military Services
