You’re Already In A New Academic Year

Share

July doesn’t feel like fall, but it’s the start of our fall trimester and new academic year. But what does that mean at an online university like CSU Global?

you are already on campus

As you are probably already aware, CSU Global is a little different from your traditional state university. While most other colleges are taking a break or offering limited summer sessions, our year round monthly starts continue to roll. But the July term does mark the beginning of our new academic calendar, so we thought it was a good time to explain how our unique school schedule works, as well as share a little of what you can look forward to this upcoming year.

What Do CSU Global and Yoga Have in Common?

Flexibility of course! CSU Global’s schedule benefits working adults in more ways than just being online. Our academic schedule was specially created to maximize student choice and provide flexible college programs that work around you. That starts with our accelerated 8-week classes which take the same curriculum and learning outcomes of semester-long courses and turns them into more efficient, more intensive learning experiences. This allows you to not only finish each class faster, but also focus more on the specific material because you are taking fewer courses at one time.

Coupled with the fact that CSU Global offers classes every month, having 8-week terms means that you can complete more classes within the academic year than you could somewhere else.

A full-time undergraduate student at a traditional school completes 12 credits in each of two semesters most of the time. If you were to take two classes in each term during all three trimesters at CSU Global though, you would actually complete 36 credits each year—a full bachelor’s degree would take you just over three years instead of four with no overloading classes!

But that type of full schedule doesn’t always work. Sometimes other things—you know, like work and family—get in the way. Another benefit of CSU Global’s schedule is the ability to take classes when it works best for you. Within your registration track that starts with your first course, you have options to take a month off or overlap courses at times if that’s what works best for you. Does your work slow down in the summer and you want to start a new class in both July and August? You can do that. Kids come home for the holidays and you don’t want to be in class in December? You can choose to do that too.

So What Does The Start of the New Academic Year Really Mean?

Not a whole lot compared to brick and mortar universities. Even other online colleges usually wait to make any programmatic changes until the fall trimester. But with CSU Global’s real-time approach, curriculum improvements and course offerings keep rolling just like the year round terms do. That means we can more quickly respond to industry and student needs. One of the only things that is only reviewed once a year like a traditional university is CSU Global’s tuition rates, but unlike many other schools our tuition rates won’t change again this year. In fact, we’ve had the same low rates since 2011!

Despite being a year round college, what the new academic year does represent at CSU Global is the chance to feel like it’s a fresh start and be reinvigorated with our sense of purpose and university direction.

For example, we have our new slogan of “You’re Already On Campus” that speaks to our continued commitment to providing the anytime, anywhere access to education that our mission is built on. Check out our new TV commercial and our AlreadyOnCampus.com website and expect to learn more about what this means to us.

During the coming year, you can also expect us to make stronger connections with professional industries to further ensure that the degree you are earning sets you up for success in your career. This means more career services and networking potential with your peers as well as opportunities to give back to your local communities and get involved with the university. You’re already on campus with students, faculty, and industry professionals around the world, and we’re looking forward to collectively making a bigger impact.

So welcome to the 2015-2016 Academic Year at CSU Global to new and returning students alike! Let’s make this year even better than the last!
