As an online student, you may ask yourself from time to time, “How can I get help if I’m struggling, since I don’t have a campus to visit?”
Luckily, support is available at every turn to provide students with the tools and assistance needed for success. As you take steps toward earning your degree online, here’s a guide to the resources offered at each phase.
Make an appointment with your student advisor. This person will be your primary point of contact in choosing the courses and/or specializations that best fit your career goals. Be sure to check in with them periodically to discuss your progress, needs, and challenges. They can also help you evaluate your academic and career goals to stay on track.
Our faculty members have relevant experience in their fields. They are are trained to work with students in an online environment, and are available to help you during their office hours if you need individual assistance with their courses. They can also direct you to the appropriate resources, which include:
The University Library – Our 24/7 online library provides access to academic journals, ebooks, industry publications, resource guides for writing in APA style, and a chat service to speak with librarians.
Tutoring Services – You can receive free, one-on-one tutoring online at any time, every day of the week. The tutors are live, real people who are qualified to help students with a variety of subjects.
The Writing Center – Essays make up a great deal of CSU Global course assignments, so it is important to establish and improve upon your writing skills to best convey your ideas. The Writing Center provides resources and tools, writing tutors, and essay-review services to help students become better writers, researchers, and critical thinkers.
Take advantage of the career center. Career Navigation Services are available for students to access job search resources such as videos, resume and cover letter samples, articles, and tutorials. There’s also one-on-one career coaching and resume assistance services for students looking to advance in their career or make career changes.
Acquaint yourself with Alumni Services. When you’re preparing to graduate, know that you’ll still be supported as an alumnus. Alumni services include an alumni network, events, programs, and continuing education discounts to support graduates.
For students attending online universities, it is just as important to make the most of communities, support, and resources as it is for traditional, on-campus students. In an online environment, the ease of access to resources may even be greater than on a traditional campus because help is a few clicks away.
