CSU Global introduces Healthcare Data Analytics graduate certificate

Share

August 13, 2026

CSU Global now offers an online graduate certificate in Healthcare Data Analytics. The program is designed for healthcare professionals who want to use data to improve patient care and business results.

The 12-credit certificate emphasizes practical use of healthcare data. Courses cover reporting, visualization, predictive analytics, data quality, and ethical governance. Students apply clinical and operational data to improve quality, manage resources, and support planning and financial decisions.

Data skills are essential for healthcare leaders.

“Healthcare data literacy allows managers to turn complex clinical and operational data into evidence-based decisions that improve patient care and organizational efficiency,” said Eric Williams, MHA DrPH, program manager for Healthcare Administration & Health Sciences at CSU Global. “Without these skills, leaders risk making critical strategic choices based on guesswork rather than concrete evidence.”

What do students learn in the Healthcare Data Analytics certificate?

Students complete four graduate-level courses covering healthcare analytics, data reporting and visualization, predictive analytics, and data mining.

After completing the program, graduates will be able to:

  • Analyze ethical, legal, and strategic issues involving healthcare data, including HIPAA and data governance.
  • Create dashboards and reports for executives and nontechnical audiences.
  • Explain how predictive analytics can support forecasting, risk assessment, and resource allocation.
  • Evaluate data quality and structure while working with technical analytics and data science teams.

One of the most valuable skills is making complex information easy to understand.

“Data visualization and dashboard creation offer the most immediate value because they allow you to translate raw metrics into clear, actionable insights right away,” Williams said. “This skill instantly helps teams spot operational bottlenecks and clearly communicate performance to key decision makers.”

The certificate is designed for professionals in hospitals, health systems, medical practices, insurance, public health, consulting, healthcare technology, and other organizations that rely on healthcare data.

Designed for working healthcare professionals

Like all CSU Global programs, the graduate certificate in healthcare data analytics is fully online. Courses run in eight-week terms, and monthly start dates give students flexibility in choosing when to begin.

Students can fit coursework around their work and personal schedules, without needing to travel to campus or attend classes at set times. CSU Global also accepts eligible employer tuition assistance and education benefits, making it easier for working professionals to use workplace funding for a graduate credential.

Pathway to a master’s degree

All four certificate courses apply toward CSU Global’s Master of Science in Healthcare Data Analytics. Students can start with a 12-credit credential and continue to a master’s degree without repeating courses.

Healthcare data analytics career opportunities

The certificate supports career growth in healthcare reporting, business intelligence, quality improvement, operations, population health, strategic planning, and analytics management. Job titles may include healthcare data analyst, healthcare business intelligence analyst, and healthcare analytics manager.

The certificate also provides a foundation for analytics-focused and leadership roles for those interested in guiding organizational decisions.

“This certificate validates your ability to bridge the gap between complex data and high level strategy, proving you can lead data driven initiatives,” Williams said. “Demonstrating these analytical capabilities positions you as a strategic asset ready to step into higher level management and decision making roles.”

Several related jobs are projected to grow faster than average for all U.S. occupations between 2024 and 2034. These include health information technologists and medical registrars, operations research analysts, and medical and health services managers.
