Military Tuition Assistance Students

CSU Global stands ready to support you!

In the event of a government shutdown on September 30th, Tuition Assistance (TA) education funding may be suspended until a resolution is reached, and your TA requests may be canceled. If you are registered for the FallD term starting October 6th, we encourage you to consider alternate means of funding, as Branches may be canceling TA requests each day there is a shutdown and requests will not be retroactively authorized for classes that began during the shutdown period.

Please keep in mind that if the shutdown is in effect on October 5th, TA requests with a start date of October 6th will be cancelled. If you are registered in the FallD term, you will need to have at least 50% of your tuition covered by another fund source by Monday, October 13th  to avoid being dropped from class. If you already have another fund source set up, you do not need to take any further action.

If you do not already have another fund source, some options that may be available to you include:

  • GI Bill – VA funding is not impacted by the shutdown. If you have GI Bill eligibility and would like to utilize these funds, please email a copy of your Certificate of Eligibility to military.benefits@csuglobal.edu. If you need assistance applying for benefits, please contact us.
  • Financial Aid (Including Pell Grant if eligibility) – Start this process by completing a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at studentaid.gov. You will need to provide the school code for CSU Global: 042087.
  • Payment Plan – 50% cash payment prior to the Add/Drop date on October 14th,, 50% due 30 days after start date. You do not need to sign up for this, just ensure that you make a 50% payment prior to the drop date.

All of us at CSU Global are here to support you in your academic and professional goals. We encourage you to reach out to your Student Success Counselor or Student Financial Services to discuss your options and so they may answer any questions you may have as we work to navigate the shutdown together.

If a resolution is not reached in a timely manner, and you wish to forgo alternative sources of funding, you may drop your FallD course(s) with no charge through the end of day Monday, October 13th.

  • If you would like to adjust your SpringA course to a future term, you can reach out to your Student Success Counselor for assistance or make the changes in your Student Portal.
  • If you are utilizing financial aid, we suggest contacting the Military Benefits department before making any changes to ensure that there will be no negative impacts to your financial aid award.

If the shutdown continues for any length of time, please be aware that future terms may be impacted as well, as you may not be able to request TA funding for any impacted term during the shutdown.

CSU Global will continue to monitor government decision-making and provide information for future terms as we have it available.

If you have any questions or feel you need additional time to make a cash payment or to apply for other means of funding, please contact military.benefits@csuglobal.edu or 855-212-6700.

Sincerely,

Jessica Roeger
Associate Director of Student Accounts & Military Services
