5 tips to survive the holiday season at csu global

Sure seems that the most wonderful time of the year has also turned into the most stressful time of the year!

While most college students are getting excited for a few weeks off from classes, you are gearing up to study straight through the holidays and into the new year… while also working full-time, preparing for holiday celebrations, and wrangling your kid’s seasonal excitement. Although there are a million things going on at this time of year, CSU Global gives you flexibility in your coursework so that homework doesn’t need to add to your holiday stress. Here are a few pointers to help you stay on top of things today and into the new year:

1.  Work Ahead – The best possible solution for keeping your holiday cheer is to work ahead! Although it is certainly easier said than done, CSU Global gives you the tools that make it a possibility. Your course syllabus includes readings, discussion questions, and assignments for all 8 weeks in a term. Create a study schedule that is heavier during the first few weeks, it may seem like a lot of reading and writing at the time, but it will be worth it when you don’t have to say “no” to going to a friend’s last minute cookie decorating party.

Of course, some of the discussion assignments with your classmates and your instructor need to happen within the given week, but getting the heavy lifting done ahead of time will make these tasks a lot more manageable.

2.  Take Some “Me” Time: Many of you might be traveling to be with family during the holidays, and although we know you love spending quality time with your Great Aunt Milly and your sister’s adorable five children, school work can be the perfect excuse to get away from the craziness for a few hours.

Find a local coffee shop or a quiet space in the house so that you can escape and get some homework done. Not only will it feel great to submit an assignment, but you will feel refreshed and ready for another family dinner.

3. Make Use of the Empty Office – With many people taking vacation during the holidays I bet your office feels nice and quiet. Use this as an opportunity to get ahead in both your day job and school work. With people out, you will have more uninterrupted and productive work time, allowing you to finally use your lunch break to complete a homework assignment or leave the office at a normal hour so you can fit an extra hour of reading into your evening.

4.  Have A Cookie – There is no shortage of sweets during the holidays.  If you are having a bad day or simply need a pick me up, treat yourself to something sweet. It will give you a boost of energy and holiday spirit that you will help you get your work done. Just be ready to start that healthier resolution in the new year!

5.  Remember Why You Started – Although going to school may be adding to your holiday stress, take a step back and think about why you started in the first place. Completing this class will bring you one step closer to graduation. By taking time to complete your degree, you are giving yourself and your loved ones an amazing gift, the gift of education, success, and confidence.

From everyone here at CSU Global, we wish you a joyful holiday season and a new year filled with health, happiness, and success.
