In this CSU Global mini-course, you will explore introductory data analytics ideas and career paths. You’ll also explore the learning platforms that CSU Global uses to help students succeed in taking 100% online courses that fit their schedules.

This specific mini-course is designed as an introduction to our Data Analytics program and the overall CSU Global student experience. The purpose of this course is to acquaint students with the common terminology, tools, ideas, career paths, and concepts in data analytics and consists of three modules.

The eight courses in the Master of Science in Data Analytics (MSDA) are designed to introduce students to the concepts and tools needed for a career path in Data Analytics. Students should have specific knowledge of statistics, databases (SQL), and programming.

Module 1: Introduction To Data Analytics And The CSU-Global MS In Data Analytics Program

Module 1 covers basic data analytics terms and concepts and addresses the MSDA program’s content, admission requirements, and available supplemental courses.

 

Module 2: An Overview Of Data Analytic Tools And The Career Paths

Module 2 focuses on tools commonly used in data analytics careers and introduces information about these tools that instructors will expand upon in the full program. This module will discuss the various career options open to MSDA graduates.

 

Module 3: Core Concepts Of Data Mining

In Module 3, you will explore the core concepts of data mining including industry vocabulary as well as the activities and process of data mining. You will learn the differences between business analytics and data mining as well as explore the nature and role of data science.
