A message from the CSU Global Executive Leadership Team to Faculty and Staff

Dear Valued CSU Global Team Members,

We have been carefully monitoring and analyzing all federal directives coming from the new presidential administration and want to share how the most recent guidance, published on February 14, 2025 by the U.S. Department of Education, may or may not impact our university. As we navigate these changes, we will keep our focus on the missions of CSU Global and the CSU System, as we serve students and prioritize faculty, staff, and the University.

The Department of Education published what is known as a “Dear Colleague Letter” directed to all K-12 schools, colleges, and universities in the nation. This letter follows an earlier DEI-centered executive order titled “Ending illegal discrimination and restoring merit-based opportunity.” This letter describes how the administration interprets and intends to enforce federal nondiscrimination laws in an educational setting. It makes it clear that organizations that fail to comply will put their federal funding at risk.

We are confident that CSU Global currently complies with the law, as we do not use race as a factor in admissions, financial aid, or employment. We are closely monitoring this policy update and any additional updates that may arise in the future, and we assure you we will take all necessary steps to inform the CSU Global community should there be a change that has an impact on our current practices.

For some members of our community, these recent and ongoing federal policy updates may be disruptive and concerning. We understand that members of our community may feel unsure of what to expect next, so we ask that we all continue to embrace our values, and extend grace, dignity, and respect to each of our team members, students, and partners.

If you need assistance or someone to talk to, please take advantage of the many support programs offered to students, faculty, and staff:

  • Learners can utilize the CSU Global Student Assistance Program, which provides free, confidential help 24/7, including live assistance and online counseling related to grief and loss, mental health, and aid in finding providers in their area.
  • Faculty can also utilize the same Assistance Program, Espyr, for online counseling and finding providers.
  • All staff can access mental health resources and information from the Colorado State Employee Assistance Program, with the exception of live counseling services, which are limited to Colorado residents.
  • Learners are encouraged to reach out to their Student Success Counselor to discuss their support needs if they have been impacted by an event.
  • Staff and faculty members are encouraged to reach out to their supervisors directly to discuss their support needs if they have been impacted by an event.

We have seen CSU Global become one of the top online universities in the United States and the CSU System grow into one of the nation’s leading land-grant systems. As a University and System, we have always worked to face change and uncertainty and have emerged with strength. By continuing to put students first, together with our CSU System colleagues, we will see our way through the changing federal landscape with resilience.

We will continue to provide timely and relevant information to you as information emerges. Please keep an eye on your CSU Global email inbox for any updates.

The heart of CSU Global–and its mission–is to provide workplace success for our learners, providing them with an education that provides an invaluable return on investment. Thank you for your dedication to your areas of expertise, CSU Global, and its learners, and your ongoing support of each other and your collaborative work together.

With respect and gratitude,
