English Learner Professional Development for Teachers

In today’s preK-12 schools, English is not every student’s first language. To help every child reach his or her full potential, you’ll need to understand how young learners acquire new languages. This program is specially designed to help you do just that.

In the English Language Learning (ELL) certificate or specialization program, you’ll study linguistics, theories of language acquisition, and instructional plans for language learners. You’ll also gain a solid understanding of the laws that govern ELL education, state and national standards for ELL curricula, and methods for assessing your students’ progress.

This specialization neither leads to licensure nor to an additional endorsement.
