Through this program, you'll gain a working knowledge of the field of criminal justice, think through the ethical issues that criminal justice organizations and personnel deal with, learn about the effective management styles and leadership traits in criminal justice environments, and compare a range of theories on the management of criminal justice teams and organizations.
This program consists of five upper-division online criminal justice management courses for a total of 15 credit hours.
This course introduces the study of philosophy and history of criminal justice in America. Topics include an examination of criminal justice agencies such as police and security agencies, courts, and corrections, operating as an interacting system. Students will gain foundational knowledge about criminal justice that will prepare them for future studies in discipline.
This course introduces students to statistical techniques most commonly encountered in the analysis of quantitative data in social and criminal justice fields. Emphasis is placed on descriptive and inferential statistics. The learning experience culminates a comprehensive report of hypothesis testing with secondary data.
This course introduces and explores the unique characteristics and attributes of leadership in criminal justice organizations. Students will learn and apply those theories of leadership most applicable to the unique working environment of criminal justice practice.
This course explores the theory, practice, and application of ethics to the field of criminal justice. Students gain a basic understanding of how ethics works with the practice of criminal justice. This course prepares students for further inquiry into ethics by providing a solid foundation of its role in criminal justice policy and practice.
This course explores the administration, management, and organizational structure of criminal justice agencies. Students will learn the fundamentals of organizational theory, and link those theories to the management of justice organizations with various sizes and purposes and all levels of government.
