Continued tuition freeze marks fifth consecutive year in which university rates remained constant

Greenwood Village, CO (Thursday, May 26)-For the fifth consecutive year, Colorado State University-Global Campus (CSU-Global) tuition will remain unchanged at a maximum of $350 per credit hour for undergraduate, and $500 per credit hour for graduate students. The university will also continue its no-fee structure, and lack of out-of-state tuition rate differentials.

According to The College Board’s Annual Survey of Colleges, between 2005-06 and 2015-16, published in-state tuition and fees at public four-year institutions increased at an average rate of 3.4% per year beyond inflation. At a time when a college education is becoming increasingly out of reach for many, CSU-Global’s tuition and no-fee structure remains unchanged.

“It is our mission to provide high quality, career-relevant, personalized, and affordable education for our adult students. As a state, nonprofit university, we are pleased to be able to increase the accessibility and sustainability of higher education by maintaining a low-cost structure that facilitates our students’ success,” said Dr. Becky Takeda-Tinker, CSU-Global president.

Annual tuition at the 100% online CSU-Global for a full time student is estimated at $8,400 according to an average 24-credit college year. In contrast, according to The College Board, the national average annual tuition in 2015-16 was $9,410 for state residents at public colleges, and $23,893 for out-of-state residents attending public universities. Unlike other universities, tuition at CSU-Global is paid on a per-course basis, and students also enjoy a tuition guarantee, freezing rates for the duration of their degree program.
