On Saturday, August 6, 2016 Colorado State University Global sponsored Denver’s fourth annual Taste of Ethiopia Festival at Parkfield Lake in Denver. Representatives from CSU Global were in attendance speaking to community members and prospective students about their educational goals.
The Ethiopian community is currently the second highest immigrant population in the state of Colorado. The Taste of Ethiopia Festival celebrates and shares the Ethiopian culture and heritage with the community of Denver. The festival featured 17 professional Ethiopian folk music performers, an array of food, and a naturalization ceremony where 15 Ethiopian immigrants became U.S. citizens.
On July 25, the festival was recognized in the Congressional Record by U.S. Rep. Mike Coffman of Aurora. “The Taste of Ethiopia is a celebration as well as a cultural immersion to showcase music, food, art, crafts, culture, fashion show, and Ethiopian dance,” states the congressional commendation. “It allows visitors a taste of Ethiopia without ever leaving Colorado, and also serves to bring all Ethiopians together. It is a celebration combines fun and education.”
