August 12, 2019—CSU Global President and CEO Dr. Becky Takeda-Tinker has been appointed by Governor Jared Polis to the Colorado Economic Development Commission
The Colorado EDC is tasked with reviewing the economic condition of the state, developing programs for the promotion of economic development, and ensuring that those programs benefit both Colorado residents and companies.
Dr. Takeda-Tinker’s appointment can be seen as an acknowledgement of her work with CSU Global in creating increased workforce advancement opportunities for Coloradans through high-quality, career-relevant, and affordable online learning.
Since its creation in 2007, CSU Global has conferred over 17,000 degrees and certificates, and had over 19,000 enrolled students in the last academic year. Its success is focused on offering educational programs that provide students with workforce-ready skills and a proven return on their investment. In fact, a 2016 economic impact study reported that CSU Global alumni receive $4 back in salary and benefits for every $1 invested in their CSU Global education.
Specifically, in Colorado, CSU Global currently has students or alumni in 63 of the 64 Colorado counties, and nearly 8,000 resident-Coloradan alumni. As a public university that does not receive state funds, the economic base from the 2016 CSU Global graduating class increased the state’s economic base through higher earnings and increased business output by over $645 million (CSU Global Economic Impact Study, 2017).
