On Aug. 3, Dr. Becky Takeda-Tinker, CSU Global President and CEO, travelled to Sioux Falls, SD, to attend the Western Governors’ Workforce Development Initiative Workshop as a representative of the State of Colorado. Dr. Becky is pictured here with: Colorado Business Roundtable President Jeff Wasden; Director of the Colorado Workforce Development Council Stephanie Veck; Sarah Heath, State Director of Colorado Career and Technical Education; and CareerWise Director of Business Partnerships, Brad Revare.

Dr. Becky reported that the take-away message came from U.S. Secretary of Labor, Alexander Acosta, who said, “It’s about three things - jobs, jobs, jobs.”

On August 10, Dr. Becky gave the opening presentation at the Business-Higher Education Forum’s Workforce Development Event, which included Colorado Succeeds and the Colorado Workforce Development Council. In her presentation, she said, “Bridging higher education and industry works. We know, through third-party salary data, that five years out, our bachelor’s degree graduates are earning an average of $79,000 a year, against the national average of $59,000.” She added that CSU Global master’s degree graduates average $93,000, compared to the national average of $69,000 - roughly 25 percent more.
