Information Technology Management

Strategic Communication
Effective communication can increase efficiency and results in a wide array of professional positions. The specialization in Strategic Communication improves both internal and external messaging, delivery, and comprehension for managers, consultants, marketing and public relations specialists, human resources, and more.

Students in the Public Management program must complete ten three-credit courses (30 credit hours) in the program major. Students may also select a specialization area consisting of 15 credit hours of upper division coursework in order to enhance their major area of study. Students completing courses for the Public Management degree will obtain the essential leadership skills and knowledge in preparation for a successful public management career.

PMG400 Strategic Planning for Public and Nonprofit Organizations: A practical examination of strategic planning for public and nonprofit organizations. Emphasis on understanding the nonprofit sector, creating effective leadership in the planning process, generating internal and external support, and plan implementation.
PMG420 Public Relations: Provides a review of essential elements and strategies for conducting effective public relations efforts, including communication skills, information and message management, audience targeting, media relations and press releases, and campaign development and operations.
PMG430 Human Resource Management in the Public Sector: Overview of the application of human resource management functions in the public sector, including recruiting, selecting, training, compensating and appraising employee performance.
